Meadows Community and Values

When you join us at Meadows, you join a community of people who all have the same goal, which is to build a future for the children and young people in our care. This is at the heart of all we do. To achieve this goal, we must all create and maintain an environment that is conducive to care and compassion, and follow the rules and values of our community. This is a social contract between Meadows and its employees and outlines our responsibilities to each other.

Trauma-Informed Practice at Meadows Care:

We recognise that many of the young people we care for have experienced significant relational and developmental trauma. This requires an approach that prioritises emotional safety, predictability, and connection in every interaction.

All staff are expected to adopt a trauma-informed mindset — understanding behaviour as communication, responding with curiosity and compassion, and supporting recovery through consistent, attuned relationships.

Trauma-informed practice is not just about how we care for children; it’s also about how we care for each other. This means creating an organisational culture that values reflection, prioritises staff wellbeing, and supports clear, kind communication at all levels. We believe that children heal best in environments where the adults around them feel safe, respected, and supported. Our organisational systems, supervision structures, and leadership practices aim to reflect this understanding in action.
